Once upon a time there was a flute player in Brooklyn named Jess. When her brother and sister-in-law had their first baby, Jess decided to learn to knit so that baby Potato would have a fuzzy blanket in which to meet the universe.
Jess was soon helplessly hooked on all things yarn, and knitting quickly evolved into spinning yarn- from sheep to alpaca and back again. But being a lifelong animal lover, Jess wanted to have her own furry friends—both for homegrown fiber and as pets to love.
Jess tried to find a housemate that also happened to be an alpaca, but when that didn't pan out as expected... an idea combining Midwestern roots with Big Apple living hopped into mind: ANGORA BUNNIES!
Shortly thereafter on an adventure to Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool festival, Jess met her bunny soul mate: Jojo Cinnabun. They fell madly in love, and Jojo was appointed President of Bunny Town, the blossoming bun collective in Jess's Ditmas Park house. Jojo vigorously embraced this new role, and rapidly hired key staff members to make his vision of a self-sustaining co-op hop to life.
Now several years later, Jessica's Rabbits has three key initiatives:
-
Homespun Yarns: one of a kind fiber creations sold to support the residents of Bunny Town. (All cruelty-free fiber is collected as the buns naturally molt—they are part of Jess's family.)
-
Cute for a Cause: a giving program donating a portion of all yarn sales to a New York based animal rescue
- The Bunny Town Gazette: a weekly journal of the latest and greatest happenings with Jessica's Rabbits, from patterns and promos to Bunny Town gossip. (To be launched fall, 2020)
